air. decent line of showers that will be coming through. the evening just overcast and gloomy but, again, the chance for rain going up into the early part of the day. much more on that straight ahead. >> it has been a deadly few weeks in anne arundel, whether you're driving the roads or trying to cross the street. because of that anne arundel police are trying to make the streets safer. abc2's don harrison has more and details on another pedestrian death. >> reporter: last night a man lost his life on this stretch of highway. glen burnie resident james mon shore was struck and killed while walking along the highway. he was hit on the boulevard exit coming off of route 60 east ahead heading into -- heading into annapolis. the driver did stop and the initial report showed pedestrian error. police do not know why he was

walking. however, they know he was at a hospital earlier in the day. lt. david ennis is the commander of the traffic enforcement division. today a new program called 35 to save lives. he wants patrol officers to make it saver for drivers and pedestrians. >> concentrating on five behaviors. >> reporter: they hope this will make a difference overtime. >> it's building blofnlgt each month we'll concentrate on a different strategy. >> reporter: if upfind your -- you find yourself backing around traffic -- >> use the crls walks, obey the pedestrian signals. more importantly at night, wear clothing so you can be seen. >> shawn adams was driving into work when he saw a person crossing the highway in the thick fog. >> very fortunate that i saw

him, first of all. second of all, he was wearing dark clothing and he could barely see him. >> reporter: in annapolis, don harrison, abc2 news. >> even before this accident on a friday nierkts an -- night, an 18-year-old was killed. an off duty baltimore county police officer spent the better part of the weekend recovering from several gunshot wounds after trying to break up a party that got out of hand. brian kuebler tells us how that officer is doing or where detectives are. >> reporter: first of all, that officer is at home recuperating. he will be just fine. the focus now is to find who, from that party in overly, pulled the trigger. it was a house party on a quiet blofnlgt neighbors slay it was getting unruly as early last 1 a.m. sunday. by 3:17 a 911 call came in about a fight that spilled out into the intersection of dale and

danville. just seven minutes later another 911 call by neighbor jamie trabing after she was woken up by a distinct sound. >> we woke up and hard the rd a pow.going off. i looked out the window and heard probably 10 more shots. >> reporter: police said those shots were fired at and two hit one of their off duties officers -- off duty officers. the off duty officer asked him to move and a man came out of the crowd, striking the officer. >> we would like more information. if anyone has information for us, contact us. >> reporter: it's unclear whether the officer identified himself before shots were fired or if he had a chance. people who live on the block said they heard his screams asking someone to cal police say -- call police saying he was pan

officer down. patrolman was on the way. the neighbors said it was a loud and chaotic scene. >> maybe five, 10 minutes of everybody just running, getting back in the cars and pulling away. that's when everything calmed down and the cops were here and stuff. >> reporter: the investigation is still ongoing, they say and have yet to identify the shooting suspect, brian kuebler, abc2 news. there's more calls on disk buses after a moth ser killed and her daughter was graced. it happened at minnesota avenue and 19th street. police say the man shot the woman several times as she was boarding the bus and drove away. she died at the scene and her 23-month-old daughter who was with her at the time was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. a fourth accuser steps

during their teen dating relationships, as adult hood they had a higher risk of depression. >> those abused as teens were more likely to suffer from depression, weight problems, thoughts of suicide and heavy drinking when older. parents who suspect their teen is experience violence should talk about it. if you're looking for ways to cut sugar out from your child's diet, look at cutting out the salt. those who eat more salty foods drink more sugary drinks. they note for every one gram of salt eaten a day, a child also drinks 17 grams more of sweetened drinks than children who did not eat a lot of salt. researchers say parents need to pay attention to the amount of salt in their child's diet.

northern ohio. it is the leading edge of some much cooler air. hit and mills showers overnight. peak rain coming in toward midnight. the roads could be damp. through the day sunshine breaking out. i don't think this will be quite this clear. we'll call this partly cloudy with some sun breaking through at times. that will be a welcome site. interesting has we go further out into wednesday a band of showers developing off the coast. wednesday, though, may cloud up on us. you see the contrast in temperatures. that mild air flowing off the east coast, unseasonably mild air. the cold air knocking on the door from the west. only in the 20s in des moines, iowa. chicagoland barely above freezing. it's sparking that rain and then through the day tomorrow temperatures struggling to get out of the mid-40s. dress warmer tomorrow except for a cool change.

the same deal on wednesday a day where it will be tough to get very far out of the 40s. take a look at the overall setup. it is a large frontal boundary but not a particularly powerful one. this time of the year we can get cold fronts pushing in that will drop it 20, 30 degrees or more. still a cooldown, but not a real powerful arctic front. we haven't seen any true arguments air but we will see more of this, cloudy gloomy conditions until the front rolls through. tonight 43. scattered showers. we will get breezy overnight. how about your two degree guarantee. 50 degrees. cooler and breezy with some sun finally, some sun. then partly cloudy as we trend colder. next few days temperatures struggling to get to 50 degrees. we may touch 50. i think most of your tuesday will be in the 40s. colder air settles in on your

part in this, it's gut wrenching. >> reporter: they made a hoax call to the hospital pretending to be the queen and prince. the nurse, jacintha saldanha put it through. >> hello there. may i please speak to kate, please, my grand daughter. >> reporter: the host said they never imagined they would get through. >> it was just something that was fun and light hearted and a tragic turn of events that i don't think anyone could have predicted or expected. >> reporter: saldanha was found dead, the victim of a suspected suicide. >> we fond out at the same time. >> worst phone call in my life. >> reporter: the backlash has been fierce. the two will be interviewed by australian thief. >> i don't think there's going
